Gone worldseeing

Actually cycled route (13243 km in 20 countries):

Meghri pass

Today we cycled our highest mountain pass so far, with 2535m of altitude.

A bear appers in the mountains! Is he holding the key to Persia?

Oof, very steep!

The road from a few hours ago is barely noticable now...

Just when it got a little more flat, this sign appeared:

Pretty big bird:

Water refill:

Almost there...

We made it!

View from the top:

Picnic!

Going down!

The mountains in the distance are already in Iran:

Cycling along the border. On the other side of this river lies the islamic republic of Iran:

In the evening we arrived at a crazy hostel in no mans land between the borders of Armenia and Iran. Armenian soldiers escorted us to the place. The atmosphere there was really strange, surrounded by barbed wire and military buildings, in the middle of these immensely beautiful mountains. The hostel was run by a very nice family who invited us to tea, fruit and russian beer! It would be the last beer for some time, because in Iran, alcohol is strictly illegal.
