Mountain road to Kapan
To get onto the main route again, we took a small mountain road from Tatev to Kapan.
In the morning, it was so cloudy in the mountains, that it was hard to see anything. We almost thought we wouldn't be able to cycle today, but it soon got better and we were ready to go.
In the beginning, we were surprised that the road was actually much better than we expected:
But it got worse pretty soon:
Until it almost disappeared:
And turned into very rough gravel:
The scenery was beautiful though, passing through green hills and small mountain villages. The weather was also very nice: Mostly cloudy with a few drops of rain. Really refreshing, compared to the heat of the last several days.
In the evening we arrived in Kapan, a soviet era concrete block of a city:
